One-phase implant based oral rehabilitation in Budapest, Hungary

How is a one-phase implant-based oral restoration ready in just 5 days?

A dental implant, especially a one-phase implant that is loadable immediately, has enormous advantages over conventional dentures. This fact is actual, even despite the relatively high price of implants, and is becoming increasingly popular among those needing dental replacement. Nowadays, two families of implants are widespread in Hungary. One is the so-called traditional two-phase implant, which most implant dentists have used for decades. The currently available dental implant-based denture representing the latest implant technology is the immediate loading implant. The complete tooth replacement performed with it is the one-phase implant-based oral rehabilitation. That is what this article will cover for the most part.

One-phase implant-based dental replacement is a revolutionary new dental implantation technology. This method of dental implantation allows implants to insert right after the removal of teeth unsuitable for dental treatment. Of course, this does not mean that the implant goes precisely in the place of the removed natural teeth! The implantologist determines the exact location and the number of required implants based on the X-ray and CT images we take during the consultation.

What is oral rehabilitation?
We speak of mouth restoration when no single tooth is suitable for dental treatment in the oral cavity. Before the discovery of dental implants, the only option was adhesive dentures for those requiring complete dentures. Dental implant-based dentures are expensive, so most people may still afford dentures made with this traditional method.

We are now talking to those who can afford one-phase implant-based oral rehabilitation. A dental implant is suitable for replacing a single tooth or a few or all teeth. In the latter case, we are discussing dental implant-based oral rehabilitation, possibly on the upper, lower, or jawbones. In a few hours, we implant the required number of implants in a single, one-time procedure. The long-term temporary denture is ready in 4-5 working days, depending on the busyness of our dental laboratory. Before we get into exactly how implant-based mouth restoration occurs, let’s talk about the positive features of the one-phase implant compared to the two-phase one.

What are the most significant positive features of the one-phase implant?
First, a few words about how implants are colloquially named after their defining properties: for example, the two-phase name implant comes from the fact that it takes place in two phases. The name of the one-phase implant comes from the fact that this type of implant implantation takes place in a single stage. This implant has another name that indicates its properties, which is no other than immediate loading implant. Because this implant is loadable immediately after implantation, after that, let’s move on to the mentioned positive features.

– An immediate loading implant is implantable in a single phase. The two-phase implantation takes two stages. Consequently, the implantation of an implant is a single intervention.
– The one-phase implant is loadable immediately. That means that the long-term temporary denture is attachable to the implants. That is not the case after two-phase implantation.
– A immediate loading implant consists of a single piece. It makes implantation easier, and the time spent on implantation is shorter. Two-phase is not.
– The one-phase implant is implantable not only in the tooth bone but also in the jaw bone. This positive feature makes it possible for this type of implant its usability in cases of bone deficiency.
– The immediate loading implant is implantable perpendicularly and at a different angle. It is essential in the case of bone deficiency because it enables the reach of the most suitable bone tissue. There is no such possibility with two-phase.
– For all the reasons listed, using a one-phase implant most likely makes bone replacement unnecessary.

What is the process of one-phase implant-based oral rehabilitation under general anesthesia?
Mouth restoration with a one-phase implant occurs in two steps. In the first part happens the implantation of immediate loading implants and the preparation of the long-term temporary denture(s). In the second part occurs the trial of the permanent porcelain denture(s).

Implantation process
– Free, personal consultation with the implantologist performing the implantation.
– CT and panoramic x-rays.
– Detailed examination of the oral cavity, particularly concerning the condition of the bones and gums.
– Consultation with the anesthetist before general anesthesia.
– General anesthesia.
– Removal of teeth unsuitable for prosthetic treatment.
– Preparation of the required number of one-phase implants for implantation.
– Implantation of the required number of one-phase implants.
– Sampling for a long-term temporary denture(s).
– Preparation of long-term temporary denture (s).
– Fixation of the long-term temporary denture or dentures on the implants. The dentures are fixed and not removable by the patient.
– The necessary control tests.

It is necessary to wait approximately six months between the first and the second visit, but we recommend to have made the permanent denture(s) within a year.

The making of the permanent denture(s)
– Free personal consultation with the implantologist who performed the implant placement.
– Panoramic X-ray recording.
– Thorough examination of the oral cavity, particularly regarding the condition of the implants.
– Sampling for the permanent denture.
– Preparation of permanent porcelain denture(s). The permanent denture is fixed and not removable by the patient, similar to the long-term temporary denture.
– The necessary control tests.
