There are differences between two-phase traditional and one-phase immediate loading implants
Millions of people suffer from tooth loss due to tooth decay, gum disease, periodontal disease, or injury. The traditional crown, bridge, and denture treatments were available for a prolonged period. But with technological advancement, dental implants are widely available nowadays. They have become as valuable as gold for replacing the missing teeth for patients. Before going into the details, we need to clarify what significant dental implants exist and what is the most crucial difference between one-phase implants and two-phase implants.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental Implants are “artificial tooth roots” that restore the original tooth roots. It is a tiny and sturdy high-quality titanium alloy screw positioned to fit into the jawbone during the surgical process of replacing the damaged or missing teeth. The screw firmly connects the artificial teeth to the jaw in this dental implantation method. They function and look just like natural teeth.
What are the Two Major Implantation Methods?
While discussing the Dental Implantation methods, there are two major types: the two-phase traditional and the other one-phase immediate loading implants. Let’s learn and understand the difference between these two.
In the two-phase, traditional dental implantation method, the process happens in 2 stages spread over three to six months. First, the replacement of the implants takes place in the jaw bone and then the fabrication of the crowns for teeth, where the artificial root and the abutment are divergent units. At the same time, the artificial teeth root heals the bone.
This conventional technology is applied when the patient has no suitable bone available for implantation. This dental implantation method takes a prolonged time for healing, proving it is troublesome for the patients due to their functions and aesthetic reasons. It is essential to mention that this type of implantation is only possible when the patient has the right amount and quality jaw bone.
The one-phase implants and implantation method, in other words, the immediate loading implants, is the latest in dental implant technology. This specialized technique allows the replacement of the teeth in a single day. The entire procedure from the extractions, implant placements, and fabrication of the crowns, bridge, or denture on top is all done in one stage within five working days.
Like each individual has a different need for teeth replacement, scanning and evaluation confirm the dental implant. In this case, they incorporate the artificial root and the prosthetic abutment ready in a single period. After the surgery, a temporary crown (or denture) is fixed on the abutment compartment above the gums. Raising flaps is not required in several cases while placing the immediate dental implant. The one-phase implants take less time for healing and allow for ideal soft tissue aesthetics with high patient satisfaction.
In this writing, we explained what one-phase implants mean. We explained the most important differences between a two-phase and a one-phase implant. Finally, we talked about the critical benefits of immediate loading implants.
